
Postdoctoral Researcher
Sayantan Tripathy is a postdoctoral researcher in the Optical and Bio-Sensing Laboratory at Texas A&M University, where he joined in December 2022. His research focuses on nucleic acid engineering for the detection of cardiovascular disease biomarkers, with an emphasis on developing highly sensitive and selective biosensing platforms for point-of-care and resource-constrained settings. A key area of his work involves the development of non-enzymatic isothermal amplification strategies combined with surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for multiplexed biomarker detection. In addition to cardiovascular diagnostics, his research includes the development of non-enzymatic fluorescence-based assays for continuous glucose monitoring. He also investigates the generation of atomic vacancy center fluorescence probes derived from agricultural waste using green chemistry approaches, producing photostable alternatives to conventional dyes for biosensing applications. Prior to joining Texas A&M University, Dr. Tripathy earned his Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry from Bennett University, where his doctoral research focused on nanoparticle synthesis and material chemistry for biosensing applications. He previously served as a Senior Research Fellow at Bennett University and held research positions at Shiv Nadar University and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata, where his work involved molecular synthesis and biological evaluation of compounds for disease-related applications. He received both his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta.
